Go beyond RAM and storage. Understand the processor, graphics, AI engine and the system details that shape the way your computer works.
01 / PROCESSOR PLATFORM
AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 470
Processor specifications below describe the AMD platform selected for the AC5 design brief, not the fitted parts of an assembled AC5. The motherboard, memory, storage, ports and cooling of your build are defined in its quotation.
The CPU handles application logic and general computation. More cores can help parallel work; responsiveness also depends on the application, memory and power profile.
4 Zen 5 + 8 Zen 5c cores. Maximum boost is not a promise of continuous all-core speed.

02 / MEMORY & STORAGE
Room to think. Space to keep it.
RAM and SSD capacity solve different problems. Choose each around your applications, then match the exact components to the board.
RAM / DDR
Your active workspace.
RAM holds data used by running applications. Capacity determines how much can stay in memory; data rate, channel configuration and software also matter.

Physical format
SO-DIMM or soldered · board-dependent
SSD / NVMe
Your files, ready to load.
An SSD stores your operating system, applications and files. M.2 describes a physical format; NVMe identifies a storage protocol. Capacity alone does not tell you drive speed.

FILE STORAGE1 TBSSD
Space for your OS, projects and saved files.
03 / MOTHERBOARD & UPGRADE PATH
The board makes the system.
A processor name cannot identify a motherboard. Its layout, firmware and controller choices determine what the complete system can connect, fit and upgrade.
Match the PCB manufacturer, model and revision to the system BOM. The FP8 processor package is not a motherboard model or a desktop upgrade socket.
02
Memory topology
Establish whether memory is socketed or soldered, its module count, speed and tested capacity. CPU memory support alone does not establish system upgradeability.
03
Storage & PCIe routing
Document each M.2 slot’s supported size, interface and lane width, including shared lanes. Equal-looking slots need not offer equal throughput.
04
BIOS, security & deployment
Record the BIOS version and update path. Check the required boot, security and virtualization features on the exact board and operating system.
04 / CONNECTIONS THAT FIT YOUR WORK
Look beyond the connector.
Plan your displays, network and peripherals as a system. The following is a connection checklist, not a port inventory for AC5.
01
USB-C / USB4
Confirm data speed, display output and charging direction separately. Connector shape alone does not specify these features.
02
HDMI / DisplayPort
Specify your monitor count, resolution and refresh rate together. Check the exact ports, cables and simultaneous-output combinations.
03
Ethernet / Wi-Fi
Match controller model, link speed, drivers and wireless module to your deployment. Network performance also depends on the rest of the network.
04
OCuLink / expansion
External-GPU expansion needs a fitted connector, compatible lane routing, dock, power supply and supported software. A CPU PCIe specification alone is not enough.
05 / POWER, COOLING & REAL WORK
Performance is a whole-system story.
Cooling, firmware, memory and the application shape sustained performance. A peak clock or TOPS figure is not a finished-PC benchmark.
AMD processor default TDP
28 W
AMD configurable TDP range
15–54 W
Processor thermal-design figures, not wall-socket consumption, AC5 performance modes, adapter rating or a noise measurement.
What a useful test report includes
Exact CPU, motherboard, RAM and SSD
BIOS, OS, drivers and power profile
Application, version and repeatable settings
Sustained load, temperature and measured noise

06 / CHOOSE AROUND YOUR APPLICATIONS
What matters for your work.
Office & multitasking
CPU responsiveness + RAM headroom
List the applications you keep open together and their recommended memory requirements.
Development & virtual machines
CPU threads + RAM + SSD I/O
Budget memory and storage per environment, then allow room for the host OS and tools.
Local AI & model testing
Runtime support + memory + acceleration
Specify model, precision, context length and runtime. Measure throughput on that configuration instead of inferring it from TOPS.
